It was a bright spring Sunday with the promise of a good summer, and we decided to go for a family picnic. The previous autumn's fallen leaves were still aound, but new growth was showing through to add some colour to the woodlands. My old legs wouldn't climb this hill in the woods as fast as my son and daughter in law (helped by a couple of sticks they'd picked up) and I was some distance behind them - oh, all right then, I dawdled behind taking pictures. As I followed up the slightly curving footpath I liked the look of the way they were outlined by sidelighting and framed by the tree trunks.
