Hello Happiness
My son John showed an early interest in photography, so I got him one of the early large rangefinder Canonets with the big selenuim cell round the lens. One day at school, when he was eight years old, he took a picture of a classmate running in the sports field and submitted it to an Amateur Photographer national competition with the theme 'Hello Happiness'. The only class he could enter was that for under sixteen year olds, and he won first prize. A picture of John taking a photo of comedian Ernie Wise who presented the prizes, was taken my Mike Maloney, then a photographer later head phorographer, with the Daily Mirror and featured in the paper. Mike Maloney is now a popular coumnist with Amateur Photographer. This is a happy John with the girl in his picture, and holding a copy of his winning entry. Taken on FP4 with a Canon A1 and Metz flash held well away from the camera.
