| While I was still a staff journalist I saw this apple seller in one of
the side streets of Paris. I rather fancied an apple and bought some, and
then decided he was such a character, with jokes and banter in a fast French
patois I had difficulty understanding, that wanted a picture of him. I think
I used my Zorki C and FP4 because that was the camera I usually carried
for my own pictures, and it was more pocketable than an SLR. Most times
I had a staff photographer with me for assignment pictures. The light was
failing, and I wanted to get some detail in his black coat so I opened the
lens to its full f/3.5 and used 1/25 sec, the slowest speed the Zorki's
got. |
