Fishing boats in Sandwich Harbour
The ancient costal town of Sandwich in Kent was one of the original five Cinque Ports in the south east of England granted certain privileges by a Royal Charter dated 1155 in return for supplying ships and men to serve the King in times of war. This was in the days before there was a Royal Navy. Sandwich was then a deep water harbour but in later centuries it began to silt up and is now used only by pleasure craft and smaller fishing boats. This is another ancient town to which I want to return and explore the photographic possibilities more fully. This picture was taken on a Zenit EM using Fuji Superia 200 film.
