Early 1930s Bentley
Maybe Bugatti wasn't all that far off the mark when he described these sports cars from the original Bentley company as 'the fastest lorries in Europe'. They were masive, almost brutal compared with a delicate looking Bugatti. But they demolished the opposition at Le Mans in a roar of thunder, and they had a certain macho air about them that made them one of the most famous sports cars in history. This old country house was just the right setting. You can imagine one of P. G. Woodhouse's characteres coming out in flannels and a white shirt with a silk scarf at the neck to 'Take the old girl for spin'. Picture taken with a Hasselblad and 80mm Tessar lens on Fujichrome Professional.
